As employees, we tend to focus only on our job requirements. Some believe that it's ok to stick within their job requirement because it will keep them out of trouble and help them keep their job. Others do their best to excel in their job responsibilities. Only a few would go beyond their job scope and do more than what is expected of them.
So which one are you?
While it is ok to stick to your job description and excel in them, it may limit your chances of getting noticed for a promotion. But, how can you stand out even if you are new to your position?
Here are 10 ways to help you stand out in any job you do:
1 - Know Your Boss And Colleagues
If you want to stand out, you will need to know the people to see your effort. Take some time to ask about your boss and colleagues and study their reactions when you propose something. Bosses and coworkers are humans. Take an interest in their passion, find out what they are like as a person, both at work and, if possible, outside of work. Be genuine in really knowing them.
2 - Share Ideas And Suggestions
Check your current job and see what can be done to improve how things are done and what can be added to the activities or projects you are working on. Don't hesitate to share your thoughts and suggestions with your boss and team and see how your workmates will see it and how it will impact your work.
3 - Don't Stay Quiet During Meetings
It is not uncommon to see two types of people in meetings: those who talk and those who do not. If you find something during the meeting that interests you or you want to comment on it, don't be afraid to speak out. Your team leader or boss will take note of your thoughts and acknowledge you if your suggestions work.

Whatever you are working on, don't be late unless there is a reason why you are late. By showing that you can meet deadlines and arrive to work on time, you indicate that you are dedicated to the job and the company.
