Hello ,
Hope you're having a great Easter weekend, and I won't take up too much of it, I just wanted to let you know a bit of Gaggia related news, 2 new (updated) Gaggia machines.
The first one, is the new Gaggia Classic model.
Gaggia Classic Pro 2023 / EVO | | | A few people have emailed me recently asking about this, as it was released a couple of weeks ago, so some people are confused about which one to go for.
To be perfectly honest, I think referring to this as the "Evo" version, as in "evolution" is a little bit of a stretch ;-), this is the official title although Gaggia Direct are just calling it the 2023 model.
It's the same machine, basically, but with a few upgrades which are mainly there to make it easier for them to build.
As a knock on effect, it does make it a bit easier to get to get to key components for maintenance, and the portafilter is all stainless steel so that's definitely an upgrade vs the chrome plated one.
The boiler is the same, it just has a non-stick coating instead of being anodised, and this could potentially be slightly better where scale build-up (or lack thereof) is concerned, but it's difficult to say for sure.
I do like the fact that the group is now all brass, and there's a stainless steel surround, but honestly none of these changes really change that much where cup quality or user experience is concerned, other than maybe the nicer stainless portafilter.
So whether you decide to opt for the new slightly more expensive version, or to go for the cheaper original 2019 version while they still have some stock, is completely up to you, and I don't think there's a great deal of difference between them, if I'm honest.
If you do decide to go for the 2019 version, don't forget to copy and past the exclusive discount code from this page:
| | Next, is the new version of Gaggia's flagship bean to cup machine, the Accademia.
Gaggia Accademia 2022 Version | | | This is one heck of a bean to cup machine!
If you're someone who wants to get a bit more hands on with your machine, but others in the home or small office just want to swipe a touch screen and tap an icon, the new Accademia is well worth a look.
It has a one touch milk carafe for loads of one touch milkies including some off the beaten track options (Melange & Macchiatone), and a pro steam wand for manual steaming.
There are 5 dose options, from 5-11g, a true double shot via the 2 cup option on the touch screen, flow control on the espresso, brew temp control, and preinfusion settings.
There's also a "coffee boost" option for sticking an extra ristretto in any coffee, for "one of them mornings"... You get sliders on the screen to control the coffee and milk volumes too, while the coffee is being made, and you can save any of your tweaks into one of the four profiles.
I've been using it for upcoming YouTube video reviews, and I have to say it's really impressive, and I think mainly due to the real glass front, this is the first touch screen that I've actually enjoyed using. It's really responsive, but there's a metal dial too for toggling through the options if preferred.
The original Accademia was built like a tank, it was known for being a really reliable machine, and I'm told that the core machine hasn't been changed, so on that basis I think this is going to prove to be a very popular bean to cup machine for busier homes and for small offices.
It's not cheap, that's the only drawback (well, that and I wish they'd given it a bigger drip tray, as the one it has seems on the small size for such a capable machine) but there's a £100 discount code above which makes it ever so slightly less painful ;-), if you're after a bargain, though, they have a handful of the original Accadamia on offer at a huge discount!
And that's all from me for today, I'll leave you to carry on with your Easter egg hunt :-).
Cheers,
