How to brew the cleanest-tasting French Press coffee The metal filter in French Press can't completely filter all the fines and sediments like paper filter. Thankfully, there is a way to achieve that with a spoon🥄 Just brew your French Press coffee like usual (pour water and coffee for 4 mins steep). At 4 mins, use a spoon to gently break the crust that floats on surface of brew as show on the video. Then scoop out all remaining coffee ground and bubbles on surface. This step stops the coffee from brewing and makes all the ground sink to the bottom. There you don't have to worry about over extraction. If you have been to any cupping session, it's the exact same method! Then just put the lid back and DO NOT plunge the metal filter. Give another 1-2 minutes and wait to let gravity slowly pull down all the remaining fines in the brew. You don't want to plunge it and mess up the whole brew again. Lastly, slowly pour the coffee into your cup and the metal filter act like a ground coffee stopper. Also, this makes cleaning the metal filter super easy! 😉 Try it out! Happy brewing 😄 |
