Intersection Over Union (IoU) quantifies the degree of overlap between two boxes or regions.
In object detection and segmentation, IoU evaluates the overlap of the Ground Truth and the Prediction region, and is therefore crucial for understanding measures of quality.

🎉 Independence Day Sale (July 4, 2022)
Independence day is a celebration of the birth of a nation.
Blood, sweat, and tears were spilled to achieve this glorious day.
On such days, we, as individuals, too, get to chance to reflect on the struggles of our lives.
We continue to fight for personal and professional freedoms that make life meaningful.
Here is a short list that I care about personally
- The freedom to work on things I am passionate about.
- The freedom to set my work hours.
- The freedom to share knowledge and help others achieve success.
- The freedom from financial worries.
I work very hard and cannot set my work hours yet. But I achieved the remaining three freedoms before I turned 40.
How?
I got lucky. I started my consulting company right when the AI rocketship started taking off.
I also got unlucky. Most of what I learned during my Ph.D. was obsolete.
I got lucky. There was incredible demand for AI consulting services. I had enough work coming in to support a team.
I got unlucky. The problems were complicated, and learning to solve them with new techniques without guidance was tough.
I got lucky. I was not alone in the trenches. There were others with battle scars. I learned from my peers. I wiped my tears.
In a few months, my teammates and I developed deep expertise in solving a broad range of problems in computer vision and AI.
Lady luck stopped rocking my boat. Instead, she decided to dance with me and make me sway.
Today, we share much of what we learn.
We have distilled our knowledge and experience in our courses, so you do not have to struggle the way we did.
