A full bodied, sweet and aromatic coffee from Sumatra.

Sumatra Wahana Rasuna

Located near Lake Takengon in North Sumatra, this single varietal Rasuna was originally grown for disease resistance so until our visit back in 2011 it had never been tasted on its own. On the cupping table we discovered some delicious notes of brown sugar, biscuit and dates with a full, velvety body and low acidity.

Wahana Estate

We have seen a seismic shift in the processing and preparation of Sumatran coffees over recent years - thanks in no small part to the Wahana Research Farm. Wahana's sustainable approach to supporting the whole coffee community is part of their raison d'ĂȘtre. They provide crĂȘche facilities to all the hundreds of families that work on this vast 468 hectare estate, as well as schooling, welfare and housing. Only 250 hectares of the farm is given to growing coffee so the rest of the estate grows wild and with some other crops is rich in biodiversity.
