Understanding Stereo Vision and Depth Perception [ with code ]

Hello trend,

This is Satya Mallick from LearnOpenCV.com.

We receive a lot of requests from readers who want to learn more about stereo vision. Topics like 3D geometry and stereo vision are mathematically involved, and it takes time to simplify the concepts and present it in an easy to understand way.

We started with a gentle introduction to epipolar geometry and stereo vision and followed it up with a post on making a low cost stereo camera using OpenCV.

In today's post we will discuss classical methods in stereo matching and depth perception.

We know a lot of programmers learn better by understanding concepts by experimenting with code. So, we are sharing code in both C++ and Python that you can try to follow along while reading the post.

WHY COMPUTER VISION PROJECTS FAIL

As part of OpenCV Weekly Webinar, we are bringing world class practitioners to discuss practical problems and solutions related to computer vision and artificial intelligence.

In tomorrow's webinar, we will discuss why computer vision projects fail. Joseph Nelson (CEO, Roboflow) will join us to share his insights and tips / tools to avoid common pitfalls.

I have a few anecdotes to share myself. It is going to be very informative for beginners as well as for established practitioners. Please register at the link below. We hope to see you tomorrow.

Topic : Why Computer Vision Projects Fail
Time : 9 AM Pacific Time, April 8, 2021
Hosts : Joseph Nelson (CEO, Roboflow), Satya Mallick (CEO, OpenCV.org), and Phil Nelson (Content Manager, OpenCV.org)
Free registration : https://lu.ma/40wjrwsk

Please note that the webinar is being organized by Roboflow and so the registration link is different than the usual OpenCV zoom link. See you tomorrow.
