Hello! We're zipping through Thursday like a drone in a mall. Did you know that an Apple II powers Russia's Lenin museum? We tell you how that came to be, and give you an in-depth review of one of the best OLED TVs around. Check it all out below, and find out what's going on in Tech today. |

Apple computers can be found all over the world, and plenty wind up in unusual places. But perhaps the one in the strangest place of all is the Apple II that powers the keystone exhibit in Russia's Lenin Museum, 20 miles south of Moscow.
The museum, still open today, first opened its doors in 1987 during the final years of the USSR and is dedicated to the country's first leader, Vladimir Lenin. Among its exhibits are a series of moving, three-dimensional presentations, each depicting a period from Lenin's life.
Back in 1987, the Soviet museum staff needed a way to control these presentations, which required syncing lights, projectors, and motors all down to the second. At the time, a British company called Electrosonic had developed a system called the ES4000 that helped technicians do just that. The computer powering the ES4000 system? The Apple II.
Best of all? 34 years later, the museum still run runs on that same computer! |

If you're in the market for an OLED TV, you should be looking at the LG C1. LG's C-Series OLEDs have been one of my top picks (if not the top pick) for our Best TVs list since the C6 was introduced about 5 years ago. LG's C-Series has seen mostly incremental changes year over year, and this year is no different. However, the upgrades the C1 OLED received over last year's CX OLED are meaningful, mostly in terms of processing, sound (yes, sound), and gaming.
Since I've already told you to seriously consider this TV, let me take the opportunity to explain why.
Historically, LG's C-Series OLED TVs have had the same panel and processor as LG's more expensive Gallery Series, or G-Series OLEDs, and better processing than its B-Series OLEDs. This year, with the introduction of the new, less expensive A-Series, the C1 still justifies its slightly more expensive price tag. Compared to the new G1 OLED, the C1 is now considerably less expensive since the G1 has gotten an upgraded, brighter panel, known as OLED evo. All of this to say: The C1 has always struck a sweet spot in LG's OLED lineup — that sweet spot just got a little sweeter. Now, let's dive into some details. |

Last month we were blown away by the flying skills of drone pilot Jay Christensen when he wowed the world with an incredible journey through his local bowling alley in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Now, the ace pilot has returned with another stunning effort that will not disappoint. Swapping the bowling alley for Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, this time around Christensen uses his first-person-view (FPV) drone to dodge, weave, and dive among the mall's plethora of attractions.
Carefully choreographed and with a soundtrack added later to bring the scene to life (and eliminate the sound of the drone!), the 137-second single-shot sequence is, we're sure you'll agree, a fabulous achievement. |
