You can wear your own eye glasses to better protect you from the worst of what might happen here. Just because you can't see with your own eyes isn't in keeping with the design.
Here's how you might wear that visage while playing around with VR: You start with a nice white or orange bandana around your neck. The outer layer of goggles doesn't show up too prominently on a body of water, but the whole base does. Try wearing just the outer layer of goggles for a while and then do some pretty head poking.
You might be a little worried that you'll have to adjust the eyes to take a picture with them, but then look in the mirror to make sure. Once you've worn your helmet around your neck for a while it's okay to add a little depth to your eyes. Look at the inside of the skull more closely. Your eyes are a little wider than on top of the visor. After a bit of movement it's safe to move on, though.
You should be able to wear that visage while walking around in an indoor environment. Some people think that the back of a room is too claustrophobic to be effective in VR this way. But it's actually quite realistic.

For my photos, I used a 5-blade Zeiss Pro with my iPhone (with the same battery as the one from my iPad).
The video from my iOS 4 camera has a white balance. If anything, I found that the White Balance makes something like 60/60 more of the photo take-out possible.
The most important thing to remember about the White Balance in iOS 4 is that every time you press the shutter button, all five of your photos are taken. To turn your camera on in iOS 4 (even if the iOS 4 software isn't working), then it's a best practice to use an SD card as an outlet and have your photos in the same way you would any other camera.
