We asked a number of consumers about the amount of money they spent on advertising during the current election cycle.
After seeing the number of times the money went toward commercials, she asked a question about the amount of money in TV money spent — "How much is it going to cost for a couple of years?" In one case, she asked herself, "Why are people going back to TV for some additional money?"
A lot of people said that they only made purchases while watching TV. But, as we wrote in our first look at it, the question is more complicated.
So far, nearly one in five U.S. households currently have no television.
That represents a massive rise from 12.5 million households who watched cable, to about one in six. (Only 8.5 million households watched cable this summer.)
That's the first time that the percentage of households who were watching television has risen since the election's beginning.
And so, what does the new law take effect? That will be an announcement to the U.S. House of Representatives this week, along with a new rule for television programs that target certain demographics. (House Republicans have repeatedly denounced TV ads as hateful and deceptive.)
"If this law passes, we will have a much lower number of Americans relying on TV for entertainment purposes," Rep. Chris
