| "Free To Choose Whether To Migrate or Stay" | | | | |
| Dear we, The theme for Pope Francis' message for today's World Day of Migrants and Refugees reminds us that the decision to leave one's home should be a free choice. But this isn't the case for millions of our sisters and brothers affected by climate change. In our own country, we've seen communities destroyed and thousands of people displaced by wildfires, record flooding and hurricanes. Around the world, families with even fewer resources struggle to survive in the face of more frequent and severe weather events. It's predicted that climate change could displace more than a billion people by 2050—less than 30 years away. Our faith calls us to act. | | | | | |
| On Oct. 4—the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi—we will lift our voices together by emailing Congress to address the climate crisis and its impact on our global family. | | | | |

|
| Your voice can help a family in the Philippines who lost their home in a typhoon and don't have the resources to rebuild. It can make a difference for a farmer in Honduras whose crops—and only livelihood—were ruined by unpredictable floods. Your advocacy can ensure a community in Kenya can access emergency food and not have to migrate to find food during prolonged drought. Will you help our global family by adding your voice on this important day of advocacy? By participating, you will help us have a bigger impact to ensure our sisters and brothers can thrive in their home communities and become resilient against climate change. Prayerfully, Catholic Relief Services and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops | | | | | |
