Hello, Insiders. This week, I'm focusing my notes on the war in Ukraine. Today, let's dig into American support. It's been massive — about $76.8 billion in aid. Biden recently made a daring trip to Kyiv to reaffirm US support of Ukrainian efforts against Russia. But will it continue? For how long? Public support for Biden's efforts in Ukraine is split along party lines. As of January, according to Pew, 61% of Democrats approve of his response — as opposed to only around a quarter of Republicans. But one thing many Americans seem to agree on: They're growing tired of support without diplomacy. Many want the US to pursue diplomatic negotiations to end the war. I'm curious to hear from you — what do you think should happen next? Let me know: insidertoday@insider.com. — Nicholas Carlson |

THE BIG STORY Boomers' greed | The story of our inflation headache is one of scarcity: not enough people, homes, or ships. But while the arguments about post-COVID price chaos have focused overwhelmingly on pandemic-created triggers, inflation is also a story of larger tectonic shifts within the population. Boomers are entering their twilight years. And as they ride off into the sunset, they're leaving behind an economy that isn't really built to accommodate the demands of the 21st century. They've spent the past few decades shaping the world in a way that has made the current crunch more painful — and sets up future generations for continued deprivation. Their greed destroyed the economy. Now, millennials and Gen Z are paying the price. |
