This is a really good choice if you're looking for a coffee to brew with manual brew methods, with less caffeine. It tastes really good with cafetiere, but it's great for pourover, and filter machines too.
When I started tasting this one (which I do via cupping and various brew methods) the first thing I noticed was the really pleasant buttery mouthfeel, and then I was struck by the smooth flavour notes of toffee and caramel.
It didn't take long at all for my brain to make the connection between this combination of mouthfeel and flavour notes, and a certain well known brand of "butter candies", the name of which rhymes with curvers original ;-).
Unfortunately this isn't a great one for espresso, the mix of particular beans makes it one that is really suited for manual brew methods.
If you fancy a reduced caffeine coffee without going the whole decaf hog, and you're brewing via cafetiere, pourover or other manual brew methods, why not give this one a try?
For one week only (Ends at Midnight on Friday the 24th of February), use the discount code HALFCAFF for 15% off.
This applies to standard orders, and to subscriptions - but the best deal is when you subscribe, as the 15% applies on top of the first month's automatic 15% subscription, meaning that you get (roughly) 30% off the first order in your subscription, and then 15% off each order going forward.
If you decide you don't want to stick with this coffee in your subscription, you can just login and swap your coffee at any time, you can also pause or cancel your subscription at any time too, there's no commitment whatsoever.
Change to Chocolate & Caramel Swiss Water Decaf.
The next bit of news, is we've had to make a change with the Chocolate & Caramel Swiss Water Decaf. Due to a supply issue, we've switched to a Peruvian bean with an almost identical taste profile.
They're still Swiss Water decaf, and they have the same SCA score of 83, but thankfully the taste profile is so similar that there's no need to change the product name or taste descriptors, so we're simply referring to this coffee going forward as Chocolate & Caramel Swiss Water Peru.
If you've not tried the decaf, by the way, I'd highly recommend it, such a nice coffee!
If you already drink this coffee, please let me know what you think about the new beans, I think you'll probably find you can't tell the difference in the cup.
