Hey coffee lover,
Want to impress your coffee nerd friends with your knowledge of unusual varieties? Then allow me to introduce Arusha coffee, the Arabica varietal that defies classification.
Grown primarily in Tanzania and Papua New Guinea, Arusha coffee has been categorized as both Bourbon-type and Typica-type. Unusually, it shares traits with both -- the rounder fruits of Bourbon coffee and the narrower leaves of Typica coffee.
Along with being a bit of a biological mystery, Arusha coffee is also a delicious brew. If you can track down a bag of Arusha coffee beans, you'll enjoy rich flavors of chocolate, molasses, and dried fruit; a nutty aroma; and a bright acidity.
