Hey coffee lover,
Looking for a classy cocktail to serve at your next brunch gathering? Or maybe you just want an excuse to drink bourbon before noon? No matter the reason, we have the answer: the Cold Brew Old Fashioned.
Usually, I'm not one to advise tinkering with a classic. And the Old Fashioned -- that perfectly balanced combo of bourbon, bitters, and simple syrup -- is definitely a classic.
But I'll make an exception in this case, because this Cold Brew Old Fashioned might be even better than the original. The addition of smooth cold brew concentrate, with its syrupy mouthfeel and bittersweet flavor, really ups the ante!
Trying different coffee beans and roast levels is a fun way to experiment with this drink. We love the nutty and caramel-y flavors of a good medium or dark roast, but the fruity flavors of a premium light roast can also make for a complex and exciting beverage. Use coffee of the Bourbon varietal for the appealing name symmetry. Or make a decaf version for an ideal evening cocktail.
