AI Gym Trainer for Squats using Mediapipe
We have been working on an automated Gym Trainer for quite some time and finally arrived at a pretty good solution for tracking squats from the side view. We have used Mediapipe to give us the keypoints on the body because it runs in real-time on CPU.
Here are the features we have implemented:
- Counting Correct and Incorrect Squats.
- Feedback if you are not squating properly.
- Feedback when you are going too deep.
- Feedback when your back is not straight and bending forward/backward too much.
- Feedback if your knee is falling over toe.

Here are some examples of the feedback given by the trainer:
You can use the same techniques to build a trainer for tracking any other exercise like Lunges, Push-ups, Pull-ups, etc. Without further ado, lets jump into the post 👉
