Hi,

This week you'll learn about Thermal Vision: Fever Detector with Python and OpenCV (starter project).

Do YOU want to LEARN to estimate the BODY TEMPERATURE of a human body JUST USING AN IMAGE?

If so, keep reading …😏

In the previous tutorial, you learned how to extract temperatures from thermal images/videos/cameras using pixel values through Python and OpenCV.

Today, we apply all this knowledge (within 10 minutes) in a STARTER PROJECT: a THERMAL IMAGING FEVER DETECTOR!

The big picture: Body temperature measurement has been trending due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to learn from every life situation; this is no exception.

How it works: You will track human faces on thermal images and apply your previous thermal vision knowledge just using Python and OpenCV.

If you have your favorite Raspberry Pi at hand, we will show you how to use it in this project!

Our thoughts: It´s the perfect, simple, and fast project to apply all your infrared vision knowledge.

Yes, but: To simplify this tutorial, we use "traditional" Machine Learning, but if you are really enjoying this course as much as we are, this is the last step before putting all your knowledge and effort to work on a more advanced thermal Deep Learning project (🤫 don't tell anyone … that will be our secret for the last tutorial 😉).

Stay smart: Enjoy the tutorial!

Disclaimer: This tutorial attempts to estimate human body temperature using thermal images. It doesn't mean that COVID-19 or other diseases could be detected with the proposed methods. We encourage you to follow the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidance that indicates the required standards to travel deeper into this topic.
