Summer Drinks

Take a look at some of our favourite ways to enjoy coffee or tea cold as the weather heats up this Summer.

ICED FILTER
Compared to cold brew, iced filter is brewed hot and chilled instantly over ice capturing more acidity to make for a really refreshing drink. Top tip, stick to a ratio of 60% brewing water to 40% ice.

  • For a 300ml Pour Over brew use 19g of coffee ground slightly finer than usual.
  • Add 120g of ice to the decanter you're brewing into.
  • Brew with hot water, pouring as it runs through until you reach 180g.
  • Aim for a brew time of around 1:30 - 2 mins. Swirl to melt ice in the decanter and pour into a fresh glass with ice.

EARL GREY COLLINS
The fragrant, bergamot aroma of Earl Grey works perfectly chilled and this twist on a classic involves infusing gin with Earl Grey to capture that amazing aroma in a refreshing, long cocktail.

  • Infuse 20g of Earl Grey with 350ml of gin for 2 hours in a jar or small bottle.
  • Add a double shot of infused gin to a tall glass with ice.
  • Then add half a shot of sugar syrup, the juice of half a lemon and top with soda.

AFFOGATO
This simple combo of espresso and ice cream is perfect for Summer. If you don't have an espresso machine try it with a Moka Pot coffee. Here are a few things to bear in mind when putting together your Affogato.

  • Chill your glass or cup before adding your components. This helps prevent your espresso from melting your ice cream too quickly.
  • We go for one scoop of plain and simple ice cream with a single shot of espresso. This really compliments the flavour of the coffee where vanilla can overpower it.
