Use your voice two ways on World Refugee Day to help our displaced global family.

Dear we, When the first bombs dropped in Kharkiv, Ilyena took cover in a metro station with her husband Andrej and their 9-month-old son Bagdan. As rocket blasts shook the walls, Ilyena knew they had to get out of Ukraine to keep their son safe.

|
Ilyena and Andrej carried Bagdan for hours as they walked through subway tunnels to reach the station closest to their home. They packed what they could in minutes and fled in their car to the Polish border, where Andrej said goodbye to his family because he needed to stay and fight in Ukraine.

This World Refugee Day, we lift our voices to God for Ilyena, Andrej and Bagdan—and for all refugees from Ukraine and around the world who face such scary and life-altering moments. We pray they find safety and support for their basic needs. We can also use our voices to help all refugees by advocating lifesaving humanitarian assistance that provides food and addresses global hunger—an especially critical need now as the Ukraine war increases food insecurity worldwide. Ilyena and her son were fortunate to find shelter and food at a Caritas center in Poland. But so many more of our displaced sisters and brothers need access to food.
