Hey coffee lover,
The espresso macchiato is far too often confused with its much more flamboyant cousin, the Starbucks Caramel Macchiato, but the two could hardly be more different. While the Caramel Macchiato is a sugar-laden dessert masquerading as a coffee drink, the traditional espresso macchiato is a subtle and sophisticated affair.
A true Italian espresso macchiato is nothing more than a perfect espresso shot topped with a dollop of steamed milk. It's rich and flavorful like an espresso, with just enough dairy to add a hint of sweetness and wonderfully creamy mouthfeel.
If that sounds like the drink for you, then you'll want to click through to this...
