The Courier directed by Dominic Cooke; starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Merab Ninidze, Jessie Buckley, Rachel Brosnahan and Angus Wright; written by Tom O'Connor

In the midst of the Cold War, a small-time businessman is recruited by MI-6 and the CIA to establish contact with a high-profile Soviet asset.

Though possibly a bit too dramatized, the script turns this true story into a simple, believable and yet efficient spy thriller while successfully layering tangible human drama into its higher historical stakes.
Lead Benedict Cumberbatch gives a convincing and rich performance which is the crown jewel of a quality production on all levels, topped by an unexpected and poignant third act.
