Only 2.4% of venture capital founders are women, but after a career spent in law and banking, Tracy Chadwell felt ready to take on the challenge. In 2016 she founded 1843 Capital (named after the year that Ada Lovelace wrote the first computer program). Her fund invests in early-stage startups founded by women who work in the "silver tech" space. These women build technology geared at improving the lives of people over the age of 50.

Selected from a pool of more than 10,000 nominees, the members of the 50 Over 50 are founding and running companies at scale ($20 million or more in revenue for for-profit companies), leading movements and changing the world. They’re working across all sectors of the American economyâ€"venture capital, education, politics, major league sports and moreâ€"and, importantly, they’re paying forward their after-50 success.
