The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games have started, and the rowing at the Sea Forest Waterway on Tokyo Bay is getting closer. As HTBS wrote on 6 August, the regatta starts on Friday 27 August and the first race is at 9:30 local time.
This is the fourth time the Paralympics has been organised. Out of the 46 nations that tried to qualify to the Games, 25 managed to get slots. Brazil, Ukraine and the USA have qualified in all four boat categories, PR1 women's single sculls, PR1 men's single sculls, PR2 mixed double sculls and PR3 mixed coxed four.
The youngest competitors are 17-year-olds Yui Kimura of Japan and Dariia Kotyk of Ukraine, while the oldest are 53, Sylvia Pille-Steppat of Germany and Gian Filippo of Italy.
Want to watch the para-rowing? There is a list of different countries' TV channels showing the races here (and other para-sports). And, of course, there is also the Paralympics YouTube channel.
