This is an intro to SNMP (simple network management protocol), what it is, how to use it, why to use it, what sorts of things you can do with it, etc. It's not very flashy but it does explain how MIB files are used, how to find out what data your devices have available via SNMP and that sort of thing. I might make additional videos showing scotty (a diagramming/monitoring tool) or showing how
to use this new SNMP knowledge to make your own data/graph templates, or maybe showing how I used SNMP to make nagios plugins. I'll almost certainly do a separate video showing how you can extend net-snmp to glue in new data into SNMP like BIND performance stats or postfix message handling stats.
